Community Service – Double Peak Challenge

September 30, 2016 @ 3:00 pm – October 1, 2016 @ 11:00 am
Dear Pivot High School Students,

Friends of San Marcos Parks & Recreation and Sandy Feet Events is looking for volunteers for the inaugural San Marcos Double Peak Challenge in 2016. They can use all of the volunteer help they can get to help support this cause (especially on race day)! You can volunteer either Friday, 9/30 from 3 – 7 pm or Saturday, 10/1 from 5:30 – 11 am.  You can go HERE to register.

Here are the details:

When and Where You Can Volunteer for the Event:
Packet Pickup: Friday, September 30th: 3:00pm – 7:30pm

San Marcos Community Center
3 Civic Center Dr
San Marcos, CA 92069

– Parking is available on site.

Race Day: Saturday, October 1st: 5:30 am – 11:00 am
San Elijo Park
1105 Elfin Forest Rd
San Marcos, CA 92078

– Parking is available and reserved on site at the parking lot to the west of the lower baseball field. HERE is a pin drop of the lot you can park in. Below is a map of the site so you can see you will have to walk a bit to get to the volunteer check in. Aleternatively, you can park in the San Elijo Middle School parking lot (1600 Schoolhouse Way, San Marcos, CA 92078)

PACKET PICKUP: Please meet Rachel at the Volunteer check in at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 30th,  where you’ll be assigned to one or many duties that help participants smoothly pick up their bibs, chips, and apparel. We set it up and take it down. Participant pickup ends at 7:00 pm on the dot, so we will be done by 7:30 pm. A quick and relatively painless shift 🙂 We will be in an air conditioned location. Dress accordingly.

RACE DAY:  Please find Deanna at the Volunteer check in at 5:30 am on Saturday, Oct 1st.  You have signed up for a specific role which we will honor as best we can, but may need to delegate you to another role if need be.  If you wake up late and can’t get there by5:30 am, WE STILL NEED YOU!  PLEASE COME HELP!  Registration for participants will be opening at 6:30am, so we need help getting the event site perfected, course/water volunteers to their locations, registration volunteers trained, and goody bags stuffed before runners arrive. We can’t wait for your punctual arrival 🙂

WHAT TO EXPECT: You can expect to come out, work hard with a group of fellow rockstars to set up a fantastic event, be flexible in the roles and responsibilities of the day, and enjoy a lighthearted race day atmosphere until we are completely done taking everything down. In return for your precious time with us we will have snacks, drinks, a hug and a high five! If you have any food allergies or preferences though, make sure you pack a snack. Also, bring some sunscreen; we practice safe sunning at Sandy Feet Events. Finally, we can provide a letter of service if you would like on site or via e-mail. Just make sure you let us know when you sign in that you will need this.

BRING YOUR FRIENDS!!! Putting on an event is a lot of work and we need all the help we can get, so bring your friends, parents, kids, aunts, uncles, cousins, anyone who would like to help support a good cause, spend a fun day in San Marcos or just needs volunteer hours! They can sign up HERE.
