Since Pivot Charter School’s online workshops were so popular and educational for students during the 2020-21 school year, Pivot is expanding its schoolwide workshops to accommodate both onsite and virtual opportunities.

Pivot originally started offering virtual, schoolwide workshops when Resource Centers had to close in 2020 because of the pandemic. Educational Coordinators from each of Pivot’s four sites offered fun and instructional workshops to any student so they could get assistance on a particular subject or learn something new such as guitar or meditation from any Pivot teachers.

For the 2021-22 school year, Pivot is offering onsite workshops on Mondays and Wednesdays for writing, algebra and fun clubs. Tuesdays’ and Thursdays’ virtual workshops will cover English, math, social studies and science. On any of these days, students will be able to seek specific help with assignments, drop into teachers’ office hours for individual learning or be part of an exciting club.

For the first time, one of Pivot’s educational coordinators is offering a virtual Life Skills Workshop to all middle school students to discuss social-emotional skills, study tips, career exploration, stress management and career readiness.

Though Pivot has offered virtual workshops before, Educational Coordinators continue to see the educational benefits students get from these workshops. They have proven to improve student performance across the board. Since Resource Centers are open this school year, Pivot is widening its workshop offerings so students can participate either online, in-person, or both!
